WHO MANUFACTURES CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS?

WHERE ARE CAN-AM 3-WHEEL MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED?
Can-Am Spyder models are built in BRP's main production facilities in Valcourt, Québec, Canada and the Can-Am Ryker models are build in BRP's production facility in Juárez, Mexico.
HOW LONG HAVE CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS BEEN IN EXISTENCE?
The Can-Am Spyder was the first Can-Am On-Road model, and it was introduced in February 2007. The Can-Am Ryker was introduced in September 2018.
ARE CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS CONSIDERED MOTORCYCLES?
Can-Am On-Road models are classified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as three-wheeled motorcycles. BRP feels that Can-Am On-Road 3-wheeled models give owners the performance of a motorcycle and much of the peace of mind of a convertible sports car.
WHY DO CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS HAVE THREE WHEELS AND NOT TWO?
While initially concepting Can-Am Spyder, BRP briefly looked at going the traditional route, keeping in line with other powersport companies. However, BRP wanted to stay strong to its core value, opting for designing an innovative, paradigm-shifting vehicle that makes a true statement. This stays true more than 10 years later, with the innovative new Can-Am Ryker.
WHY DOES BRP SPELL “SPYDER” AND “RYKER” WITH A Y?
Spyder and Ryker are spelled with a Y because of Can-Am’s Y-frame design. It has two wheels in the front and one wheel in the back.
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT COMPARES TO CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS?
Can-Am On-Road models can’t be compared to anything on the road because of their unique Y-frame design and automotive technologies. These 3-wheel vehicles provide an open-road riding experience like nobody has seen or experienced before.
DO YOU NEED A MOTORCYCLE LICENCE TO RIDE CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS?
Most jurisdictions in Europe with the exception of Greece require a valid car licence to operate Can-Am On-Road models. In other countries and especially in North America, some jurisdictions require a valid motorcycle or three-wheel licence. We invite you to contact your local authorities to obtain the licence and vehicle registration information that applies to you or to look it up in the Licensing Requirements section of this website.
DO PEOPLE NEED TO WEAR A HELMET TO RIDE CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS?
Helmet requirements are the same as standard motorcycles and vary by location. While helmet laws aren’t universal, BRP recommends everybody wear a helmet while riding a Can-Am On-Road model.
DO CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS MEET EPA / CARB / EU / ETC. REGULATIONS?
Yes. Can-Am On-Road models meet or exceed all environmental regulations, including the stricter CARB standards.
CAN YOU RIDE CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS IN THE HOV LANE?
Yes. Can-Am On-Road models are classified as three-wheeled motorcycles and follow state motorcycle laws.
DO CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS OFFER A STABLE RIDE?
Can-Am On-Road models are stable. They have a unique Y-architecture with three wheels (2+1) that provides stability at rest and in motion. Can-Am On-Road models also come standard with a Vehicle Stability System (VSS™) that includes ABS, Traction Control, and Stability Control.
DOES BRP OFFER A WARRANTY FOR CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS?
Can-Am Spyder models come standard with a two-year warranty with unlimited mileage and the Can-Am Ryker models come with a standard one-year warranty with unlimited milage.
HOW DO CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS TURN?
Can-Am On-Road models turn much like a Can-Am ATV, Sea-Doo personal watercraft or Ski-Doo snowmobile. Riders steer the vehicle through the turn. There is no counter steering or leaning like you would with a motorcycle. Can-Am On-Road models also feature DPS (Dynamic Power Steering) to provide steering assistance according to speed and user input.
WHAT ARE THE TRANSMISSION OPTIONS FOR CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODELS?
The Can-Am Spyder has two different transmission options. There is the Sequential Manual, which has a traditional 6-speed manual transmission with reverse (SM6). The other option is the Sequential Electronic, which is a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission with reverse (SE6). Up until 2016 some models featured a 5-speed transmission.
The Can-Am Ryker features a CVT transmission with no use of clutch or shifting required.

WHERE CAN I OBTAIN AN OPERATOR’S GUIDE FOR MY CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODEL?
You can access digital versions of the operator’s guides here. In addition, a hardcopy version can be purchased from an authorized Can-Am On-Road dealer.
WHAT IF I HAVE A CONCERN RELATED TO THE SPEED OR QUALITY OF SERVICE ON MY VEHICLE BY A CAN-AM ON-ROAD DEALER?
Your first step should be to raise your concern to the service manager of your dealership. If you are still not satisfied with any aspect of the service performed on your vehicle, you can then contact our customer service.
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODEL FOR THE WINTER?
Please consult the "Storage" section of your operator's guide for information on properly storing your vehicle during the off-season.
HOW DO I GET MY CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODEL REPAIRED WHILE IN WARRANTY?
Your first step would be to take your product to an authorized Can-Am On-Road dealer for diagnosis. The technician can help determine if the repair will be covered under warranty.
IS MY FACTORY WARRANTY TRANSFERABLE TO ANOTHER OWNER IF I SELL MY CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODEL?
Yes, the warranty always follows the vehicle.
IS MY FACTORY WARRANTY VALID AT ANY AUTHORIZED CAN-AM ON-ROAD DEALER?
Yes, any authorized Can-Am On-Road dealer should be able to assist you with factory warranty work.
DOES MY FACTORY WARRANTY COVER TRANSPORTING THE VEHICLE TO AND FROM THE DEALERSHIP?
If your Can-Am On-Road model is under a factory warranty, you are also covered by an Emergency Roadside Assistance (1-866-477-1415). Emergency Roadside Assistance is available throughout the United States and Canada 24 hours a day, every day of the year and provides emergency services up to two hundred dollar ($200.00) per occurrence. WHY WAS MY REPLACED / REPAIRED PART NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY?
If a part failure is not deemed to be caused by a manufacturer defect, it is possible that the repair would not be covered under warranty.
HOW DO I UPDATE MY ADDRESS OR CHANGE THE OWNERSHIP OF MY CAN-AM ON-ROAD MODEL?
You can send us a proof of purchase or of ownership (such as a bill of sale), the mileage or hours on the vehicle, and your complete mailing address and phone number Contact us.
